Jermaine Figueira, a well-known spoken-word poet from Linden and Travis Bowen a popular singer/professional dancer from Georgetown will headline this month’s Poetry and Jazz (P&J) night themed ‘Addicted’ at L&L Restaurant in Linden on March 20.
The event, hosted by Divine Entertainment in collaboration with L&L Restaurant is the 10th of its kind, according to a press release.
P&J as is commonly called creates quite a buzz, the release said, and the audience base has been growing every month.
The concept, it said, is an evening of jazz music, spoken word poetry, dinner and wine away from the ordinary club and street jam Linden has grown accustomed to.
“Divine Entertainment is in the business of introducing alternative entertainment which will contribute to social awareness, development and balance which is needed in this transitioning community…,” its manager Devin Sears was quoted as saying.
“P&J, aside from the open mic segment, will introduce a new feature, Poetic Battle where the last poet left standing will win a prize…,” he added.
L&L Restaurant is located in Green Heart Street Linden and persons wishing to make reservations are asked to call 669-7250, 444-2909 or 669-7250. The event is sponsored by Divine Entertainment, 104.3 Power FM, L&L Restaurant and Banks DIH Ltd.
