Lodge Secondary breezed past St. Mary’s High by a 3-0 margin when the Milo/Petra Organization Schools Football tourney continued yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
In what would prove to be a closely fought opening half, Lodge Secondary would break the deadlock through an Orlando Gravesande 15th minute strike to the bottom of the net after his initial attempt from inside the left side of the box was saved by opposing custodian.
Tavel Janos would double Lodge Secondary’s advantage in the 45th minute of second period compliments of a powerful right footed strike down the centre of the goal after receiving a left sided pass by Kevin Boters. The result would be sealed in the 51st minute as Jarel Grannum found the back of the net with a strike from the left side of the field that crashed into the bottom of the right upright and rolled into the back of the framework.
In the second matchup, Dolphin Secondary upset South Ruimveldt Secondary 2-0. Dolphin Secondary opened the scoring in the 15th minute through a Dequan Matthews header that came off the crossbar and settled into the back of the net after receiving a right sided corner kick.
They would double their lead in the 52nd minute through a Lenroy Forde right footed strike from 24 yards out that settled into the bottom left hand corner of the net.
In other results, defending champion St. George’s Secondary and Queenstown Secondary played to a nil-all draw while the Bishops High crushed School of the Nations by a 5-1 score line.
