Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Leslie Ramsammy says that from July 1, the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) will have a new board led by a new chairperson who has already been identified.
The life of the present board was extended to June. Subsequently, a release from GINA said, the matter was ventilated at the level of the Cabinet and it was agreed that a new board would be established with several new members.
The previous chairman Raj Singh is now functioning as Chief Executive Officer. The main sugar union GAWU last week called for a revamping of the sugar corporation board.
