The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has confirmed the inclusion of skipper Leon Johnson and middle-order batsman Chandarpaul Hemraj in the four-day team for the upcoming remaining rounds of the ongoing West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) 4-day tournament.
Johnson, who was ruled out of the first three rounds of the
competition after sustaining a Grade 2 tear to his knee during a practice match will return for the remaining rounds, while Hemraj who was called up to the squad failed to get a knock but will likely get his chance in the next round.
The two left-handers will replace two other left-handers in Vishaul Singh and Sewnarine Chattergoon both who have played throughout the tournament. Singh, who has Guyana’s top individual score of 73 which he scored against Jamaica has so far contributed other scores of: 18, 1, 5 and 0.
Chattergoon, the former West Indies opener has also been having a torrid time after scoring 50 against Barbados at home and has also recorded scores of 0, 13, 9 and 14. The inclusion of Johnson will boost the middle-order while Hemraj who has three first-class matches under his belt will look to finally cement his place in the senior fold.
Guyana will face Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) in the fourth round starting Friday.
