Benn to suit up for Lashings

LONDON, CMC – Out-of-favour West Indies left-arm spinner Sulieman Benn will turn out for the Lashings All-stars World XI in the upcoming season, the club has confirmed.

The beanpole 32-year-old will play 12 matches and will also appear in a special charity match to be played at Harlow Town Cricket Club on June 27.

“I can though confirm that West Indian spinner Sulieman Benn will be appearing for the All-stars,” said Lashings chief James Lashings.

“Sulieman played 17 Tests and 20 One Day Internationals for his country and will be with us for the start of the season and finish his stint with us at Eynsford on 6th July, playing in 12 games.

“As always we can never 100 per cent guarantee who will be appearing but barring an emergency, Suli will be at those 12 games as he is only flying in to the UK to play for us.”

Benn is the latest in a long line of West Indies players to turn out for the popular English cricket club. In the past, Lashings have boasted the likes of Sir Richie Richardson, Courtney Walsh, Gordon Greenidge and Brian Lara.

Benn last played for West Indies three years ago and is currently representing Barbados in the WICB Regional Four-Day Championship.
