GRA opening tax sites on Monday

The Guyana Revenue Authority has announced that on Monday it will open tax sites at various locations to facilitate the submission of tax returns.

In a press release, the GRA said one of those locations will be the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph, Beterverwagting branch located obliquely opposite Qualfon Guyana Incorporated where it hosted tax education sessions at the company on  last Monday and Tuesday. The agency hosts these sessions often, but as the April 30 date for the submission of the Individual Income Tax and Property tax looms it has heightened these workshops.

Manager of the Tax Advisory Services Division, Naresha Bobb-Semple and Tax Specialists Denise Samaroo and Joyette Garraway facilitated the workshop at Qualfon. The team provided data on the new Mortgate Interest Relief Initiative and participants were informed about the requirement under the law for every taxpayer to file tax returns and more importantly, to have a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) in their possession. Participants were also given information on the emolument (7B) slip, obtaining tax refunds and penalties for failing to meet deadlines. Toolkits containing samples of the different tax refund forms along with written tax guidelines in the form of booklets were also provided during the sessions.

The GRA will also once again set up tax sites at N&S Mattai, the City Mall and Republic Bank, Diamond. The public is encouraged to check the press for times and locations for the operation of the tax sites.
