Kingston, Jamaica- A Confident Windward Islands team led by veteran Liam Sebastian held their first training session at Sabina Park ahead of their fourth round Regional Four day clash against leaders Jamaica at the same venue.
The Windwards , who are lying third in the standings on 29 points are keen on securing maximum points from Jamaica, despite the host having a perfect record thus far.
“Last year we came here at Sabina Park and Chris Gayle virtually won the game for the Jamaicans with his big hundred, Gayle is not around this time and we believe we have the players who can put pressure on Jamaica and come out victorious,” said coach Ian Allen.
The Windwards have made one change to their squad with the injured Dalton Polius replaced by off spinner Shane Shillingford.
With the strip at Sabina Park lacking much grass, Allen believes the wicket will produce a result, and his game plan is quite simple and that is to outplay Jamaica in every department.
“We will definitely start positive and take it stride by stride, we want to try and put up as much runs on the board and try to restrict the Jamaicans and once we do that I have no doubt we will come out on top.”
The Windwards batting will revolve around Devon Smith, Sunil Ambris and Captain Sebastian while their bowling will be spearheaded by seamer Kenroy Peters and Shane Shillingford who is making a return to the team.
The fourth round four day match between Jamaica and the Windward Island get underway tomorrow starting at 10am.
