Queen’s College mauled North Georgetown Secondary 5-0 when the round of the 16 knockout matches in the Milo/Petra Organization Schools Football tournament commenced yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Jaydev Mona opened the scoring for Queen’s College with a clinical strike to the right hand corner of the net after evading his marker within the right side of the penalty box.
Queen’s would double their lead in the 46th minute as Aftab Crandon netted with a simple
finish from inside the box to the lower left hand corner.
Crandon would complete his double minutes later as the Camp Road side strengthened their position, curling his right footed effort over the keeper into the back of net from the centre of the penalty area.
The lopsided result would be completed as Shemar Britton and Stephen King found the back of the net in the 55th and 68th minutes respectively.
In the final matchup, Charlestown Secondary needled Kingston High 1-0 compliments of an Aroydy Brandford 63rd minute strike to the bottom of the goal from inside the penalty area, after the keeper parried an initial shot into his path.
In the earlier fixtures, St. Mary’s High lost to Dolphin Secondary by 1-0 score line while Lodge Secondary crushed fellow contender and last year’s losing finalist South Ruimveldt Secondary by a 3-0 margin.
