Gladwin ‘The Tiger’ Dorway will be the second local pugilist to take the ring when the Wray and Nephew Caribbean Contender Boxing Series continues tomorrow night in Jamaica.
Dorway will match gloves with Jamaican, Richard ‘Frog’ Holmes in a six-round contest at the Chinese Benevolent Centre on Hope Road in Kingston.
Bell time is scheduled for 21:30.
The bouts were decided after the host succeeded in the first round of activities which included a bag race, egg and spoon and a three-legged race.
After gaining the upper hand in the challenges, the eight-man Jamaican (Team Yellow), chose Sakima Mullings to open their campaign and subsequently chose former national lightweight champion, Lake (Team Green) to be his opponent followed by Dorway versus Holmes.
The green team comprises four Guyanese boxers (Howard Eastman, Derrick Richmond, Dorway and Lake), two Barbadians, a Trinidadian and an Antiguan.
At the conclusion of the welterweight tournament, the top boxer will pocket an appetizing $J2M.
The runner-up will pocket $500,000 with third place $250,000 and fourth place $200,000.
In the first encounter of the series last Wednesday, Mullings stopped Lake in the fourth round to move one step closer to the lucrative purse.
