Santos FC overcame Riddim Squad FC by a 3-1 margin when the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) second division league continued at the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) ground on Vlissengen Road and Carifesta Avenue on Tuesday.
Kevin McPherson opened the scoring for the winners in the 23rd minute with powerful flat right footed strike down the middle of the goal, after cutting onto his favoured foot from the left side of the field.
The Mocha based unit would level the score line five minutes before the halftime interval compliments of a sublime Steffon Ramsay right footed freekick.
Awarded the spot kick 23 yards from goal in the centre of the field, Ramsay would unleash a curling effort that evaded the diving arms of the opposing custodian and settled into the right hand side of the net.
However Lerone Charles would push Santos back into the lead in the 55th minute, lashing home his right footed effort into an empty from within the six yard box, after the Riddim Squad custodian inadvertently allowed a right sided cross to pass straight through his legs.
Charles would complete his double and the victory in the very last minute of play, compliments of a well placed header to the right hand side of the woodwork from within the centre of the six yard box, after latching onto a left sided cross from a free kick.
In the opening fixture of the doubleheader, Houston Stars brushed aside Black Pearl FC by a 3-1 score line.
