The Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) will stage the annual Torginol Paints Medal Play tournament on Saturday.
The tournament, which will be sponsored by Continental Group of Companies, is expected to be another keenly-contested affair which will feature several previous winners including last year’s champion 2013 Mark Lashley, 2012 champion Clifford Reis and 2011 winner Fazil Haniff.
Focus will also be on the inform Mohanlall ‘Santo’ Dinnanuth who won last weekend’s Best Gross Prize as well as captain of the LGC Chatterpaul “Chen Sing” Deo who won last week’s Sanjay’s Jewellery pairs tournament along with his daughter Joann Deo. The Cummings brothers Andre and Roy also cannot
be ruled out while Haresh Tiwari and Ravi Persaud are on the roster along with several other quality players like Avinash Persaud, Alfred Mentore, Brian Hackett, Kassim Khan, Christine Sukhram, Maurice Solomon, Joe Soloman, Robert Hanoman, Troy Cadogan, Carlos Adams, Kishan Bacchus, Muntaz Haniff, Munaff Arjune, Dave Mohamad, William Walker, Imran Khan and W. Mattie.
Lusignan Golf Club Captain Chatterpaul Deo, said that tournaments in the coming weeks will be of top quality as the ground is in excellent condition and the fairway is offering a lot of assistance with generous run in the matches recently.
According LGC Vice President David Mohamad, the Continental Group continues to be a regular sponsor and members of the club look forward to competing in Torginol tournaments
“In a tournament which 40 players or more will be competing, this is great for us. It’s really good to see so many players are showing an interest in the sport,” he added.
Prizes will be awarded to the top four finishers, best net as well as nearest to the pin, and best gross.
The competition is set to tee off at noon and supporters are encouraged to come out and support the players free of cost.
