An Albouystown duo, charged with assaulting and obstructing a police officer were yesterday released on $15,000 bail each when they appeared in Court 2 of the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Deric Norton, 28, of 146 Cooper Street, Albouystown was charged with unlawfully assaulting Police Corporal Mandela Cummings on March 20, while the officer was acting in the execution of duties. Norton pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan.
Prosecutor Deniro Jones raised no objections to bail and the mason was granted it.
Also charged in relation to Norton’s matter was Albouystown resident Dacia Abrams, 24. The nurse was charged with obstructing a peace officer who was acting in the execution of duties. Abrams denied the allegation when allowed to plead.
She was also granted $15,000 bail but expressed displeasure that she was being accused of a crime she did not commit.
Norton and Abrams will make their next appearance on April 8.
