Demerara Distillers Limit-ed (DDL) Chairman Komal Samaroo yesterday announced two new management positions as the company gears for further growth and expansion.
Lennox Shaun Caleb has been appointed as Senior Process Improve-ment Manager and Yeshwar (Joe) Bhagwandat as Senior Business Development Manager.
A release from the company said that Caleb, who was a Queen’s College top student and a DDL Cadet, undertook studies in Chemical Engineering at Princeton University. The release said that having graduated in 2007, he joined DDL and moved through the management ranks as Engineer, Project Manager, Engineering Services Manager and Distillery Manager, where he served until this new appointment.
With effect from 1st March 2014, Caleb is responsible for optimizing the efficiency of the Liquor Production Opera-tions across the DDL Group. A key focus will be on exploring the availability and use of technology that can result in competitive advantages for the company.
The release said that Bhagwandat, who is the holder of an MBA from the University of Liverpool in the UK, joined DDL after working for a number of years with Colgate Palmolive Carib-bean.
He started at Colgate Palmolive Guyana in 1995 and held various roles, the most recent being Team Leader for the Western Caribbean. He joined the DDL team on 13th January this year. Commenting on the new appointments Samaroo said “I look forward to Shaun and Joe playing key roles in the further expansion and growth of DDL. They are both very well qualified and boast impressive track records in their careers so far. I believe their leadership in their respective areas of focus will further strengthen the DDL organisation”.
