The Ministry of Educa-tion yesterday launched a revised version of its  Primary Science Easy Path Series ‘Science Around Us’ for Grades 1-6, at the National Centre for Educational Resource Development (NCERD).

with relevant current scientific material to capture the attention of Guyanese students, captivate their imagination, and spark their interest in learning science.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Education Minister, Priya Manickchand revealed that the venture had been undertaken as part of the programme to make up-to-date basic texts accessible for all the children in public schools and also to be available for home use. She explained that in the process, a gap analysis was done to ascertain if the contents of the books corresponded with the curriculum guides. This identified topics that needed to be aligned and the teams of primary science educators were then assigned to each grade level, coordinated by the ACEO, Primary and the science unit of NCERD.

The minister also said that the ministry was continuing to create relevant quality material for the public school system in the other basic subjects (English, Mathematics and Social Studies), and revealed that the “Atlantic Readers” series for primary school students would be launched shortly.
