Defending champions Charlestown Secondary edged Tucville Secondary 3-2 when the male edition of the Pepsi/Scotia Bank u-15 football tournament continued at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue on Saturday.
Omari James opened the scoring for the winners in the 23rd minute with a left footed strike to the lower right hand corner of the net from within the right side of the penalty box.
Charlestown would double their lead in the 32nd minute as James netted his double, placing his right footed foot into the lower left hand corner of the goal from inside the 18-yard box.
Jermaine Garrett would cut the deficit to one for the Tucville side in the 55th minute through a clinical finish into the roof of the net from right side of the box.
However the score line would become 3-1 two minutes later as Brian Price added his name to the scorer’s sheet, lashing his right footed effort down the centre of the net after cutting into the area, from the right side of the field.
Tucville Secondary’s Orin Garraway would net the game’s final goal in the 58th minute, tapping his effort into the open net unmarked after collecting a left sided cross.
In the earlier fixture, Lodge Secondary led by a Ryan Hackett helmet trick in the third, sixth, seventh and ninth minutes crushed School of the Nations by a 10-1 margin.
Contributing doubles in the win were Daniel McAllister in the 23rd and 36th minutes and Shaquille Groosonor in the 40th and 42nd minutes respectively.
Further goals by King Frank and Turston Gordon in the 43rd and 48th minutes respectively sealed the win. Netting in a losing cause was Daniel Dias in the 44th minute.
The final fixture of the day witnessed St. George’s Secondary and North Georgetown Secondary playing to 3-3 stalemate.
Orin Moore led St. George’s Secondary with a double in the 30th and 40th minutes while Joshua Williams netted in the 18th minute. On target for North Georgetown with a brace was Nehemiah Gomes in the fourth and 53rd minutes whilst Osafo Matheson netted in the 55th minute.
