The three local pugilists that competed in St. Lucia’s three-night Goodwill Tournament, Ron Smith (69kg), Delon Charles (56kg) and Bert Braithwaite (64kg) were on the podium when the tournament concluded on Sunday.
According to reports out of Castries yesterday Smith and Charles boxed their way to gold medals while Braithwaite snared silver.
Guyana’s contingent which also includes President of the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA), Steve Ninvalle was scheduled to return last night.

St. Lucia’s tournament attracted Simon Pures from that island, Guyana, Barbados, Martinique and Guadeloupe matching gloves for medals and bragging rights.
The GBA has ramped up the exposure of its boxers internationally as a means of maximizing the chances of Guyana medaling at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
Before departing, Ninvalle thanked Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Sport, Alfred King, Director of Sport, Neil Kumar and LIAT for their support.
