Professional boxing returns to the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) tonight with a bang; a five-fight card dubbed ‘Jamaican Invasion’.
In the first professional boxing event for the year, the card will feature boxers from the Land of Wood and Water matching gloves with local fighters in what is anticipated to be an entertaining night of fistic fury.
Headlining the event will be World Boxing Council (WBC) CABOFE flyweight champion, Dexter ‘De Kid’ Marques and Jamaican, Rudolph ‘Cutting Edge’ Hedge for Marques’ title.
After weighing in at 109 and 111 pounds respectively, ‘Hedge’ and the ‘De Kid’ stood with their faces inches apart, their mouths moving at a rapid-fire pace as they shouted at one another. If last night’s weigh in at the Regency Hotel was the calm before the storm, fans can expect a knock out night of boxing.
“I’m coming with my ammunition” said the ‘Cutting Edge’ (7(2)-1-3 yesterday.
“If Marques can’t take what I have to offer then its lights out.”
The southpaw added that he plans to take out Marques by the sixth round to be crowned new champion of the division.
Marques 13(5)-2(2)-0 said tonight will be a great opportunity to show people that… “I am one of the best fighters in WBC and the world.
“I know Hedge is a good fighter and I won’t take nothing from him but he got to do what he got to do and I have to do the same which is put my best foot forward and destroy him.”
A punch filled classic is in the making.

The undercard features local pugilists, Quincy Gomes (lightweight), Romeo Norville (super middleweight) and Mark ‘The People’s Choice ‘Austin (light middleweight). They will oppose three of Hedge’s countrymen.
