Defending female champions Tutorial Secondary defeated Lodge Secondary 3-1 when the Guyana Sports Development Foundation (GSDF), Pepsi/Scotia Bank football tourney continued yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Nsenga Grant opened the scoring for the defending champions in the ninth minute with an easy finish to the back of the net from inside the six yard box after latching onto a deflected shot by the opposing goalkeeper.
Tutorial would double their lead 11 minutes later as Aqueena Forde scored with a powerfully struck penalty kick conversion to the top right hand corner of the net, following a handball infringement by the Lodge defender inside the box.
Osafia Hope would reduce the deficit to one for the Jamoon Street side in the 37th minute, lobbing her right footed shot over the advancing keeper down the middle of the net, from within the left side of the 18 yard box. However the result would be sealed 10 minutes later as Lodge conceded an own goal.
In the earlier female matchup, North Georgetown Secondary and New Campbellville Secondary played to a 1-1 draw. Cindy McPherson opened the scoring for the Sheriff Street outfit in the 35th minute. The Woolford Avenue side would level the scores in the 44th minute through a Jenell Brown effort.
