The teen daughter of murdered Swiss House Cambio boss Farouk Razac and former beauty queen Carolan Lynch testified yesterday during the continuing Preliminary Inquiry (PI) into the murder charge laid against her mother.
Selina Razac entered the witness box at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court 1, where Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry is presiding over the PI to determine whether there is enough evidence to commit Lynch to stand trial for the 2007
murder of her husband.
Lynch started to cry the moment her 15-year-old daughter started to testify. At the end of Selina’s testimony, she turned towards her mother in the prisoner’s dock, waved and they shared a smile.
Sergeant Lillian Scotland also continued giving evidence and will continue doing so when the proceedings resume today. Inspector Charles is also expected to testify today.
The court also heard from Prosecutor Bharat Mangru that the attempts at locating other witnesses have been futile.
Mangru said he has since only gained contact information for two of the 10 witnesses yet to offer evidence in the PI.
Lynch was first charged in May of 2007 after Razac was found dead on the floor of their Eping Avenue, Bel Air home. Following a PI, then Magistrate Gordon Gilhuys in late December 2007 had ruled that no prima facie case was made out against her and she was subsequently discharged. However, police subsequently brought the charge against her once more.
