Laing Avenue brushed aside Albouystown by a 5-2 score line when the first annual Grassroots Foundation inter-ward knockout football tournament continued on Sunday at the Tucville Community Centre ground.
Delroy Fraser opened the scoring for the winners in the 48th minute, slotting home his right footed strike into the back of the net from the centre of the six yard box, after collecting a perfectly placed flat right sided cross by sibling Delwyn Fraser.
Albouystown would level the score two minutes later as Roy Cassou placed his effort into the right hand side of the net, following a left sided Akoisi Jarvis cross from within the penalty area.
Laing Avenue would retake the lead eight minutes later as Fraser completed his double with a clinical strike to the lower right hand corner from within the centre of the penalty area, after receiving a defence splitting pass from just outside the centre of the box.
Jerome Richardson would increase Laing Avenue’s lead in the 73rd minute through a powerfully struck left footed strike into the lower right hand corner, after evading his marker with a cheeky right footed fake shot attempt just outside the centre of the area.
Laing Avenue would continue to add to their lead as Jermaine Junior found the back of the net with an easy finish to the lower left hand corner following a one-on-one situation with the keeper.
Alpha McPhoy would reduce the deficit to two for Albouystown, etching his name to the scorer’s sheet with a powerfully struck right footed effort into the roof of the net, from just inside the 18 yard area in the 86th minute.
However the score line would be put to bed one minute later as Junior sealed his brace, lashing his effort into the left hand side of the net.
