The Guyana national male side got their campaign off to a perfect start, defeating heavyweights Argentina by a 5-3 margin when the Pan American Indoor Cup commenced on Monday in Montevideo, Uruguay.
Devin Munroe opened the scoring for local side through a second minute field goal strike. They would double their lead two minutes later as Shane Samuels netted with a penalty corner conversion.
Aroydy Brandford would make it 3-0 in the sixth minute as he found the back of the net through a
field goal attempt. Argentina would cut the deficit to two as Santiago Denuncio scored through a 16th minute field goal.
Guyana would restore their three goal advantage 12 minutes later as Jamarj Assanah etched his name on the scorer’s sheet through a field goal. Agustin Ceballos would quickly pull one back for Argentina, scoring compliments of a penalty corner strike one minute later.
Robert France would seal the famous win for the local side through a 37th minute field goal. Completing the final score line was Ceballos who netted his brace in the 40th minute.
