Two teenage boys, both 16, were yesterday remanded to police custody after appearing in a city court on a charge that they carried out a knife-point robbery at the Kingston Seawall.
It is the police’s case that the two defendants, at 9 pm on March 30, approached their two teenage complainants on pedal cycles. One of them was armed with a knife and held the male complainant at knife-point and ordered him not to move or scream while he relieved him of a cellphone, valued at $70,500.
Blackman said simultaneously the second accused took away the female complainant’s cellphone, valued at $91,000 and a strap bag containing $45,000. The second accused is also accused of cutting the complainant’s right hand during the attack. Blackman added that the two accused then made good their escape. He said it was not until April 7, that the female complainant saw the second accused on the seawall and pointed him out to the police. That accused, Blackman told the court, was arrested and following an investigation the other accused was also arrested and they were charged.
Subsequently, Magistrate Faith McGusty ordered the two accused remanded to police custody and adjourned the case until April 14.
