The first annual Grassroots Foundation inter-ward knockout football tournament continues today at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground in Bourda with an exciting quarterfinal doubleheader.
In the feature final eight showdown at 21:00hrs, Charlestown will face off with Wortmanville/Bent Street
in what promises to be an exciting matchup.
Disposing of the star studded Tiger Bay unit by a 3-1 margin in their last matchup, Charlestown will require another all-round performance led the quartet of Leon Yaw, Jamal Cozier, Keron Solomon and Jimmy Gravesande to propel them to victory.
However, Wortman ville/Bent Street will have other plans and will look to the likes of Anthony Abrams, Quason McAuley, John Waldron, Jahaal Greaves and Chris Camacho to power them to the semi-final stage.
The opening quarterfinal fixture at 19:00hrs will see Laing Avenue battling West Ruimveldt in an eagerly anticipated matchup.
Following their 10-1 dismantling of Leopold/Lacytown in their previous fixture, the Devon Millington and Colin Nelson led West Ruimveldt outfit will strive to continue their clinical displays in front of the woodwork, if they are to overcome their formidable foes.
Defeating Albouystown 5-2 in their round of 16 showdown, Laing Avenue will attempt to continue their championship hopes and will depend on the quartet of Jermaine Junior, Jerome Richardson, Delwyn Fraser and Eusi Phillips to get them over the line, come kick off time.
