A businessman accused of dangerous driving was on Tuesday last granted $40,000 bail at the Anna Regina Magistrates Court.
Magistrate Sunil Scarce heard that on March 15 at Sparta access road, Jopiechand Deodat drove motor van GFF 8243 in a manner dangerous to the public.
According to the police facts, on the day in question around 9.30 am, Deodat was driving his motor van proceeding east along the road. He stopped, had a brief conversation with someone and was reversing the vehicle when he heard an impact. Upon checking, he observed that his vehicle had collided with a girl named Devina. As a result, Devina was hospitalized and received treatment for injuries. She was later released from the hospital.
Deodat was not represented and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Bail was granted and trial will commence on April 29 at the Anna Regina Magistrates Court.
