An apologetic water vendor was yesterday remanded to prison for allegedly stabbing the mother of his child with an ice pick.
Randy Bowen, also called ‘Tupac,’ of Prince William Street, Plaisance, was charged with unlawfully assaulting Kezie Hinds. He, however, denied the allegation when it was read to him by Magistrate Ann McLennan in a city court.
According to Prosecutor Deniro Jones, on April 12, Hinds had been vending near Regent and Hinck streets when Bowen approached her. The woman asked her lover to move but the man refused, instead pointing his finger angrily in her face. Jones added that Hinds had tried in that moment to end the relationship, prompting the man to pull out an ice pick, scramble her and deal her two stabs to the leg.
During yesterday’s proceedings, Bowen indicated that he had apologised to the woman over the incident and that she had accepted the apology. Prosecutor Jones objected to bail, stating that the defendant had provided no fixed address.
As a result, Bowen was remanded to prison until May 15, when the case will be called at Georgetown Magistrates’ Court One.
