A Charlestown man was yesterday sentenced to six years imprisonment after being found guilty of six counts of armed robbery committed late last year.
Orin Favourite, 28, of Howes Street, Charlestown, had initially appeared in November, 2013 to answer to six counts of armed robbery with a gun, all committed in Albouys-town on November 3 of the same year.
According to Prosecutor Deniro Jones, Favourite had gone on an apparent spree in James Street, Albouystown, robbing six different persons in the wee hours of the morning. The complainants, Shawn Ali, Clement Arokium, Desmond Primo, Terrence Henry, Carlos Moseley and Kurt Simaron, had all later identified Favourite during various identification parades.
Each of the complainants had testified during Favourite’s trial along with police witnesses. During his trial, Favourite had been on remand and had no legal representation.
After taking a number of factors into consideration, including the defendant’s age, Magistrate Ann McLennan handed down a sentence of one year for each robbery. She said that the sentences would run consecutively.
