The Prairie International Hotel, located at Coverden, East Bank Demerara, is up for sale.
The Waldron family, which established the hotel on June 29th, 1996, is asking for a negotiable US$2.5M for the property, which sits on 2.5 acres of land.
Offers have already been received from prominent local businessmen, according to son of the estate owners, attorney Mark Waldron.
The hotel is being sold because of the inability of its aging owners to continue managing its affairs and the difficulty it would place on the attorney, who has an active practice in the city. Waldron boasted of a 70% occupancy rate at his family’s hotel, which is located 15 minutes away from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri. He stated that the business caters for flight crews and persons whose flights would have been delayed or cancelled.
The hotel has 18 rooms, comprising of an executive room; rooms with balconies; single and double occupancy rooms; an international restaurant and bar serving breakfast, lunch and dinner with a deck overlooking the Demerara River and exterior sights that, according to visitors, are worth mentioning.
