Lusignan Cricket Club was crowned champions of the East Coast Cricket Board (ECCB) 2014 U15 competition after they defeated Ogle Cricket Club by 17 runs on Sunday.
Lusignan won the toss and batted registering 191-8 from their allotted 40 overs. Opening batsmen Anil Singh (21) and Avin Gangadin (18) added 52 runs for their first wicket partnership. Lusignan, however, slipped to 79-4 in 22 overs before recovering to reach their eventual score. Robin Singh (32) and Mike Persaud (31) were the main scorers for Lusignan while Vishal Moonchan and Bisham Mohabir were the chief wicket takers with figures of 2-22 and 2-43 respectively.
In reply Ogle was bowled out for 174 in 35 overs with Nand Sanicharan hitting a top score of 53. Bowling for Lusignan, Sean Persaud took 3-24 while Mike Persaud and Singh who took two wickets each.
