Pele FC scraped past Flamingo FC by a 3-2 margin in their first division matchup when the Georgetown Football Association league continued on Tuesday at the Tucville Community ground.
Deon Alfred opened the scoring for the winners in the 13th minute through a cheeky lobbed shot over the onrushing goalkeeper from within the centre of the penalty area.
Sherwin George would net the equaliser for Flamingo 10 minutes later,
thumping his right footed strike down the middle of the goal after it came crashing off the inside of the right upright.
Flamingo would quickly take the lead in the 26th minute as veteran wideman Shemroy Porter rifled his flat left footed effort from the right side of the field, just under the body of the Pele custodian.
Pele almost grabbed the equaliser in the 42nd minute but a curling right footed freekick from midfielder Jamal Cozier just outside the centre of the penalty area, came cannoning off the crossbar.
However, Pele would not be denied the equaliser, levelling proceedings in the 50th minute through a sublime left footed freekick from Alfred.
Stepping up to take the spot kick just outside the centre of the 18 yard box following an infraction, Alfred would curl his effort over the wall and into the right hand corner of the net to seal a well deserved brace.
Pele would grab the winning goal in the 71st minute as Alpha Fletchman netted with an easy finish down the middle of the goal after being in a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper inside the centre of the box.
