Success Masters and Floodlights defeated Industry Super Kings and Park Rangers respectively in the latest action of the Trophy Stall softball competition at the Demerara Cricket Club Ground last Saturday.
Success Masters completed a 99-run victory over Industry Super Kings: Success made 188-7 off 20 overs. Sahadeo Budhu 68, Kishore Mohabir 41. Bowling for Industry, P. Singh took 3-36. Industry Super Kings were bowled out for 89, with Danny Gangadin making 26. K. Mohabir, 3-9 and Mohan 3-12 were the most successful bowlers for Success Masters.
In a high scoring game Floodlights got past Park Rangers with seven wickets in hand: Park Rangers posted a challenging 190 for 5 off 20 overs. Eon Abel made a blistering 66 while Shawn Massiah supported with 60. Clyde Canterbury took 2-41 bowling for Floodlights who in reply batted excellently to reach the target for the loss of only three wickets.
John Sumair was undefeated on 58 (8×6), while Lalta Gainda made 44 and Wayne Jones 44 not out.
In the female semi-finals Wellwoman defeated Karibee Girls by 34 runs. Wellwoman batting first made 114-7 off 10 overs. Haseena Mohamed 40, Latoya Smith and Amanda Bobsemple supported with 17 each. Karibee Girls were restricted to 80-4 off 10 overs. Erva Giddings made 33 and Tenesia Leonard 24.
In the second semi-final, Trophy Stall Angels defeated 4R Lioness by 33 runs. Trophy Stall made 115 for 4 off 10 overs. June Ogle made 33, Roxanne Dominick 28 and Kavita Yadram 20. 4R Lioness was restricted to 82-7 off 10 overs. Shian Goodluck was the top scorer with 11 runs.
Earlier in a preliminary round match, Regal Champs lost to 4R Lioness by 30 runs. 4R Lioness made 109 for 5 off 10 overs, with Timika Wilson top scoring with 44. Regal Champs replied with 96 for 8 off 10 overs.
The three finals are set for April 26, starting at 2pm at the DCC Ground.
