A man who pleaded guilty to obstructing traffic on Water and Cornhill streets was yesterday fined $10,000 with the alternative of 20 days in jail, while another who denied the charge was placed on bail.
Anson Sampson of 118 Uitvlugt admitted that he stopped/parked his bus, licence plate BHH 7976, in a manner likely to cause an obstruction, in the vicinity of Water and Cornhill streets Georgetown on April 15.
Meanwhile, Edward Fullington of 580 Recht-door-zee, West Bank Demarara, who was charged with committing the same offence on the same day at Brickdam, denied the charge.
Defending himself, Fullington explained to Magistrate Geeta Chandan Edmond in Court 10 at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts that he had parked in a corner to collect a potential passenger’s big bag and did not obstruct traffic. He was placed on $10,000 bail and is expected to return to court on April 30 for trial.
