The Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPF) has shortlisted an 11-member team to represent the nation at the eighth NAPF Caribbean Islands Powerlifting Championships in St Croix, US Virgin Islands.
Guyana is currently the two-time defending Caribbean Champions and will be heading to the July 8-13 championships on a quest to three-peat.
The team of eight males and three females was selected based on the participation and performances of the lifters at the Senior National Championships held in November last year.
The shortlisted athletes are: Leon Rupertie (59kg Male (open), Tyrone Eusebio (66kg Male Open), Paul Adams (74kg Male Open), Osmond Mack (74kg Male Open), Anis Ade-Thomas (83kg Male Open), Germain Snagg (83kg Male Open), Mariano Jeffrey (93kg), Karel Mars (105kg) and Colin Chesney (120kg)
Females: Steffie DeNobrega (52kg Female Open), Chittra Ramlochan (72kg Female Open), Kimberley Mars-Loncke (84kg Female Open)
The team is subject to change due to the scrutiny of the GAPF Executive.
