Biker Jermaine Bernard remains in a stable condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital after being hit on Wednesday by a canter truck.
Bernard, 25, of Haslington, was hit early Wednesday morning as he rode his bike to work. According to reports, Bernard had been riding his motorcycle on the outside lane of the Rupert Craig Highway in the vicinity of Atlantic Gardens when he moved closer to the inside lane to avoid an oncoming car. However, the canter swerved, hitting him from behind.
According to the man’s aunt, the driver had been in contact with the family and has been making promises to visit Bernard. However, he is yet to visit the hospital. The police are also yet to visit Bernard to take a statement on the accident.
In the meantime, the father of two is recovering well, his aunt said. According to the woman, Bernard is expected to be in the hospital for at least two more nights. Though his neck and back are still hurting, he is moving around and suffers from no broken bones.
Bernard’s family is unsure of whether to proceed with the matter in court and are waiting to hear the driver’s explanation.
