Police FC squeaked past Flamingo FC by a 2-1 score line when the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) first division league continued at the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) ground, Vlissengen Road on Friday.
Rawl Haynes gave the lawmen the perfect start as he netted in the very first minute of play through a right footed strike into the lower right hand corner of the net, from within the penalty area.
Flamingo would level the scores 16 minutes later as Shem Porter converted a penalty kick following a rash challenge within the left side of the 18 yard box.
Stepping up to take the spot kick, the veteran midfielder would hammer home his left footed effort right down the middle of the goal, giving the opposing custodian simply no chance.
The lawmen would retake the lead in the 65th minute through a well-placed Junior Gordon right footed effort from within the left side of the box, which settled into the bottom left corner of the net, after pouncing on a loose ball.Seon Peters almost levelled the score line in the 81st minute through a powerfully struck 28 yard right footed attempt from the centre of the field that was tipped over the crossbar by the Police keeper.
In the earlier second division matchup, home side GDF edged Riddim Squad by a 1-0 margin compliments of a Gavin Morrison 58th minute header.
