The Police say they are conducting investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of pedal cyclist Wayne Giddings, 29 years, of Sparendaam, ECD, who was struck down by a motor vehicle along the Goedverwagting Railway Embankment, ECD, at about 0930h. today.
Investigations have revealed that Giddings allegedly rode out from behind a mini-bus and into the path of the oncoming motor vehicle and was struck down, the police say.
Giddings got up and ran away from the scene and the driver made a report to the police at Sparendaam Police Station, police say.
Ranks went to the scene and following investigations made Giddings was found lying on a street in Goedverwagting. He was taken to the GPHC where he was pronounced DOA.
The driver is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
