Beacons FC defeated Santos FC by a 6-3 score line when the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) u-17 football league continued yesterday at the Tucville Community ground.
Akosi Jarvis would open the scoring for the winners in the 12th minute through a powerful right footed strike into the top right hand corner of the net, from inside the centre of the penalty area.
They would double their lead in the 25th minute as Samuel Hunte netted with a right footed strike to the lower right hand corner, after pouncing on a poor fisted clearance by the keeper within the centre of the area.
It would become 3-0 in the 37th minute as Santos conceded an own goal following a defender inadvertently directing a right sided Keifer Brandt cross into the back of the net.
The lopsided matchup would continue in the second period as Shamar Barrow netted in the 49th minute, lashing his effort down the middle of the goal from the right side of the box, after latching onto a Ozeal Small lobbed through pass from the centre of the park.
Santos would eventually pull one back in the 56th minute through a Lionel Holder penalty kick conversion to the right side of the goal, after Travis Lyken was brought down within the right side of the box.
Josiah Charles would restore Beacon’s four goal advantage in the 63rd minute, through a header into the left side of the net following from just outside the left upright, following a right sided cross.
Santos would cut the deficit once again in the 71st minute through a beautiful curling left footed freekick from Lyken, that settled into the top right hand corner of the net, from just outside the right side of the box.
Beacons would eventually complete their tally eight minutes later as Barrow sealed his brace through a simple finish to the bottom of the net from inside the box. Netting the final goal in the fixture was Santos midfielder Kevin McPherson in the 85th minute.
In the second fixture of the day, BK Western Tigers overcame Sunburst Camptown by a 2-0 margin.
