A post Mortem Examina-tion (PME) is expected to be conducted today on the body of Wayne Giddings who died on Monday following an accident at Goedverwagting Railway Embankment Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
According to reports, Giddings, 29, of 69 Spa-rendaam Housing Scheme, ECD died moments after he was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH). Police said that Giddings rode his bicycle from behind a mini-bus and into the pathway of an oncoming vehicle when he was struck down.
It was further stated by police that Giddings got up and ran away from the scene but collapsed shortly after. The driver of the vehicle subsequently made a report to the Sparendaam Police Station.
Philliemina Hemchand, Giddings’ wife told Stabroek News that he had left his home in search of a job when about 15 minutes after she received a call from a neighbour who informed her that her husband and a father of three was involved in an accident.
However, the woman said her neighbour assured her that it appeared her husband would survive the accident.
