A woman facing six charges, including assaulting a peace officer, was on Tuesday released on her own recognisance after denying the allegations.
Dawn Roberts, of Lot 9 North Road, Lacytown, was brought before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts to face two counts of disorderly conduct and two counts of abusive language, along with one unlawful assault charge and a malicious damage to property charge. She pleaded not guilty to all of the charges when they were read to her by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
According to Prosecutor Michael Grant, all of the offences had been carried out against Michael Caesar, a peace officer, while he had been acting in the execution of his duties.
The facts were as charged, Grant said.
The woman will return on May 19 when her matter will be recalled.
Also released on self-bail on Tuesday was Gary Singh, who was accused of threatening a Meadow-brook woman with an ice pick. Singh, who also appeared before the Chief Magistrate, pleaded not guilty to the charge of threatening behaviour involving the ice pick towards Rochelle Marshall on April 9th.
Singh, who hails from Cummings Lodge, also pleaded not guilty to a second charge which read that on the same day he also assaulted Marshall causing actual bodily harm.
Singh was granted self-bail and will return to Court Six on the 12th of May, when the case will be called again.
