The semi-final round of the first annual Stag Beer sponsored Grassroots Foundation inter-ward knockout tourney will take place today at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground, Bourda with an exciting doubleheader.
In the feature showdown at 21:00hrs, Wortmanville/Bent Street will face off with Laing Avenue in what promises to be a physical affair.
Edging a powerful West Ruimveldt side 4-3 in their quarterfinal matchup, Laing Avenue will attempt to continue their clinical offensive displays and will look to their trio of Jermaine Junior, Delroy Fraser and Eusi Phillips to help them seal a final’s berth.
Overcoming Charles-town by a 2-1 margin in their previous matchup, Wortmanville/ Bent Street will look to their dangerous trident of Anthony Abrams, John Waldron and Sheldon Holder to help them over the proverbial line.
The opening matchup at 19:00hrs will witness North/South Ruimveldt battling the star-studded North East La Penitence side, in what is expected to be a high scoring matchup.
Made to work in their 4-3 quarterfinal win over Sophia, the North/South Ruimveldt outfit will need an improved showing from their young brigade led by the likes of Trevon Lythcott, Vurlon Mills, Dwayne Lawrence and Eon Alleyne, if they are to get by a very formidable North East outfit.
However, North East La Penitence will be fancy their chances following their 2-0 defeat of East Ruimveldt and rely on their star studded line up led by the likes of Orvin Millington, Andrew Murray Jr. Randolph Wagner and Solomon Austin to power them to victory.
