“It is ridiculous that local government elections have only been held twice in fifty years. This is something personal to me. I want to see young people have the benefit of experiencing local government elections, the way I did.” Trotman recalled becoming a councillor of the Georgetown Municipality in his twenties in the elections of 1994. He said that the experience contributed a lot to his development. “Democracy is being suffocated by not having local government elections, holding the elections will allow our communities, will allow democracy to breathe”, he said.
