A man was shot once in the head in Albouystown early this morning while gambling.
The deceased was identified only as Orvin Weekes of North East La Penitence. Stabroek News understands that he is the brother of Vibert Weekes who was shot dead outside the Red Dragon nightclub on Robb Street in January 2010.
A police official told Stabroek News that the dead man was gambling at Curtis Street around 0050 hours when a gunman walked up to him and shot him.
This newspaper was unable to establish whether the shooting was sparked by the gambling or had something to do with an old grievance.
Last month the police launched a safe neighbourhood project in the area which saw an increase in foot and vehicular patrols.
