Taxi driver charged over head-pushing incident

A taxi driver was yesterday charged with assault causing actual bodily harm committed on Frederick Douglas on April 15.

The police stated that on the day in question at Robb Street and Avenue of the Republic, Jorge Pedro Dodson confronted Douglas accusing him of trying to defraud his sister over a piece of land. He allegedly pushed Douglas’s head against a wall which resulted in injuries.

The 30-year-old defendant, who is a taxi driver of lot 722 Parfait Harmonie Housing Scheme was placed on self-bail and is expected to return to Court 10 for trial on May 27.

Attorney-at-law Paul Fung-a-Fat representing the defendant told the court that the virtual complainant had only been pushed by the defendant and was willing to settle the matter.

However, Magistrate Geeta Chandan-Edmond upheld the date for trial and the matter was adjourned.
