A city woman is in police custody after about half a kilogram of cocaine was found in a package she was attempting to post to Spain yesterday afternoon, head of the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) James Singh has confirmed.
Singh told Stabroek News that CANU officers were conducting routine checks when they discovered the cocaine hidden in nail buffers around 3 pm. The woman at the time was at the Georgetown Post 0ffice Corporation.
Drug traffickers over the years have come up with countless ingenious ways to get cocaine out of Guyana.
Among the many methods they have tried are fruits and vegetables, alcoholic beverages, timber, pepper sauce, wigs, fish products, tins of coconut milk, soap powder and false bottoms and walls of suitcases.
