Northern Rangers and the Guyana Police Force (GPF) played to an exciting 1-1 draw when the Stag Beer-sponsored George-town Football Association (GFA) first division league continued at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC), ground on Wednesday.
Rawl Haynes opened the scoring in the 47th minute for the lawmen through a flat right-footed strike into the lower left-hand corner of the net, after racing into the right side of the penalty area.
Omalli Nassy almost levelled the scores six minutes later, lashing his left-footed effort from within the left side of the 18-yard line, narrowly wide of the right-hand corner.
GPF almost doubled their lead in the 57th minute as Junior Gordon was denied at point blank range by the opposing shot-stopper within the centre of the penalty area, after pouncing on a loose ball.
The chances would continue to present themselves to the Eve Leary outfit as Gordon thumped his right-footed volley effort just wide of the right corner in the 61st minute, after receiving the ball unmarked within the centre of the area.
GPF would be punished for their failure to capitalise on their chances as Sherwin Vincent levelled proceedings in the 66th minute, slotting his effort down the middle of the goal through the legs of the keeper, following a one-on-one situation.
Vincent almost stole the win for the Kitty side in the 83rd minute as he rattled the crossbar through a curling left-footed attempt from a free kick just outside the left side of the penalty area.
GPF would suffer a minor setback in the dying seconds of the fixture as Mark Boyce was shown a red card after picking up his second yellow for unsportsmanlike behaviour in the 90th+2 minute.
