Investigations into the April 1st death of Roy Mendonca, who was hit by a minibus on Carifesta Avenue, were completed and the case file was sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice, according to his widow Maureen Marks-Mendonca.
“I am not satisfied with the sluggish pace of the police and their attitude towards me asking for information. I want to know what is happening and all they can tell me is that the file is with the Director of Public Prosecutions,” Marks-Mendonca told Stabroek News.
The Police Public Relations Department was approached for further information on the matter but is offering nothing than that which is already in the public domain.
Roy Mendonca was pronounced dead on arrival when he was taken the Georgetown Public Hospital on the morning of April 1st, 2014. Mendonca, during his routine morning cycling regimen, was struck in a head on collision by minibus BNN 6492, which was said to be driving at a fast pace. The 60-year-old re-migrant and biking enthusiast, died of multiple injuries, according to an autopsy.
