The Guyana Power and Light suffered a massive blackout last night that affected the East Coast, East Bank and Georgetown.
The power companyโs intermittent blackouts and low voltages have plagued residents for over a month with GPL remaining mum on the issue and how severe the technical problems were.
Stabroek News understands that up to press time residents along the East Coast and the East Bank were still without power. The National Assembly was also affected.
GPL did release a statement after the four shutdowns which occurred over the Easter weekend, but failed to address the technical aspects. Instead the statement simply said where the shutdowns occurred and what times. Critics continue to argue that despite assurances, GPL is nowhere near to getting on top of the problems plaguing it.
