A Bel Air Village miner was yesterday remanded to prison after being accused of being in possession of a gun and ammunition.
Ewart George appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman where he pleaded not guilty to the charges that he was in possession of a .38 revolver as well as three rounds of matching ammunition.
It was the case of Prosecutor Joel Ricknauth that on May 13th, police on patrol stopped a taxi bearing licence plate HC 2240 and informed the occupants that the vehicle needed to be searched. The search revealed a gun and ammunition hidden underneath the front left passenger seatโthe very seat George occupied.
George was refused bail and the case was adjourn-ed until today, when it will be called at Court Three.
