Former West Indies Under-19 player, Kwame Crosse returned to form with a spectacular century for his team Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) against Transports Sports Club (TSC) when action continued at several venues last weekend in the Georgetown Cricket Association competitions.
Hadi’s World Incorporated First Division Two Competition
At Malteenoes Sports Club ground, TSC and GYO played to a draw. GYO batted first and posted 360-7 in their first innings. Kwame Crosse made 154, Thritlon Liverpool, 66; Surendra Hiralall, 54; Abdool Raheem, 32 and Anthony Ifill 30. Shawn Massiah claimed 3-94.
GYO second innings: 152-9, innings closed. Kris Deonarine slammed 58, Crosse 41 and Raheem 32. Azeem Azeez grabbed 6-30 and Kevin Ross 2-35. TSC first innings: 289 all-out in 55 overs, with Azeez, 84; Akeem Redmond, 61; Ryan Hemraj, 45 and Charwayne McPherson 39. Divesh Ramjattan bagged 5-60. Set 229 to win, TSC reached 206-7 in their second innings at stumps on the final day. McPherson led with 67, while Azeez and Ryan Hemraj made 40 each. Raheem captured 3-36 and Ramjattan 2-52.
At the Guyana Defence Force ground, the home team and Everest game ended in a draw. Everest took first strike and managed 222 all-out in 62.4 overs. Rishi Hiralall was their leading batsman with 62, while Raphael Singh scored 24, Chanderpaul Hemraj and Riyad Sattaur made 19 each. Randy Lindore captured 5-63 and pacer, Stephen Harris 2-26. GDF replied with 189-9, innings closed. Marcus Watkins was the top scorer with 42, while Lindore 37 and Gilford Moore 31 provided support. Troy Gonsalves was destructive with his leg spin grabbing 7-87.
In their second turn at the crease, the visitors reached 200-7 in 44 overs when stumps were drawn on the last day with Joseph Perry scoring 56 and Hemraj 41 while Jeremiah Harris and Watkins claimed two wickets each.
Noble House Seafoods Two-day Second Division
Racqueal Greene and Shaquille Moseley’s all-round performances guided Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) to a comfortable victory by 222 runs against Sophia. They batted first and made 300-8 declared in 61 overs, with Greene (88), with Jamal Norton and Tevin Campbell scoring 63 runs each. Moseley (40) also provided valuable support. Bowling for Sophia who utilized ten bowlers, G. Stephens was the pick of the bowlers with a figure of 11-3-39-4.
Sophia in reply made 174 all-out in 27 overs, with Greene claiming 7-32 from nine overs. MSC in their second innings raced to 247-5 in 27 overs, with Norton (75), Nichosie Barker and Kefa Naughton making 62 each.
Sophia’s second innings ended at 151, with Mosely and Mark Cumberbatch being the chief wicket takers for MSC with figures of 5-25 and 3-63.
