(Jamaica Observer) KINGSTON, Jamaica — Reggae artiste and matriarch of the Marley family, Rita Marley, has joined the worldwide campaign to secure the safe return of almost 300 Nigerian girls kidnapped at school on April 15.
Thursday, Rita Marley posted the slogan “No Woman No Cry #Bring Back our Girls” on her face book and twitter pages. And by Friday it had received over 10,000 likes and shares.
“They’re all our daughters. We must be concerned and also pray for their safe return.” Marley said.
The students are being held captive by the Islamic militant group Boko Haram in Nigeria. Boko Haram when translated to English means “western education is forbidden.”
The group has unleashed many violent attacks against innocent Nigerians. However, the kidnapping, its most recent atrocity, has propelled the international community into action.
