A Trans Guyana Airways (TGA) Britten Norman Islander aircraft hard landed during its approach yesterday at Kurupung Bottom airstrip, Region Seven.
No injuries were reported from the incident, which occurred at approximately 12:27 pm, according to the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
In aviation, the GCAA said in a release, a hard landing is an especially rapid or steep descent.
GCAA Director-General Zulficar Mohamed was quoted as saying that the aircraft landed on the airstrip’s threshold, resulting in damage to the left landing gear.
Five persons, including the pilot, were on board the aircraft, which had departed from Ogle International Airport.
Officials of GCAA and Trans Guyana were yesterday on their way to conduct an investigation into the incident, the release said.
